Bitdefender is one of the top Mac antivirus program. It has a high percentage of malware detection, as well as other useful security features. The program does not come without problems.
The default interface is easy-to-navigate and groups features into 3 categories: Privacy, Protection, and Utilities. The Protection tab is mainly devoted to the features you’d expect from an antivirus suite, including real-time scanning, firewall monitoring, and ransomware countermeasures. The Privacy tab focuses on ways to ensure your online security such as a secure browser that runs websites within the sandbox in order to protect you from malware that is infecting your browser. The Utilities tab includes optimization tools, as well as a file shredder which overwrites files with exclusive algorithms to make them unrecoverable, even if they have been deleted.
Other features are available in premium plans, like a handy password manager and an anti-tracking solution that can prevent excessive tracking performed by a number of web services. The program includes a vulnerability scanner that can detect outdated applications, weak passwords, or Windows updates that aren’t applied. It also provides a quick custom scan that only takes five minutes and is quicker than rivals like Norton and TotalAV.
The only downside to the app is its slow installation process which can be very frustrating for those who want to start right away. Additionally, the application’s “Reveal in Finder” option doesn’t work it seems like a strange decision for an antivirus software that competes with Extra resources other solutions that can do exactly the same thing in only few clicks.
